Day 1: Pick up from the hotel in Kampala / Entebbe international airport – Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park

On day one of this 3 days Mgahinga gorilla and lake Mutanda safari, you will be met by company representative who will be your English speaking safari guide throughout your 3 days Mgahinga gorilla and Lake Mutanda safari at your hotel or on arrival at Entebbe international airport with early morning arriving planes at least (0800 am) for meet and greet, be briefed on your 3 days Mgahinga gorilla and Lake Mutanda and then start your adventurous journey for mountain gorilla trekking to Mgahinga gorilla national park and boat canoeing on Lake Mutanda situated in southwestern Uganda. This 3 days Mgahinga gorilla and Lake Mutanda safari will take you from Uganda’s urban through semi-urban to rural and forested places of the country therefore, you will have a chance to meet Ugandan people from all lifestyles and interact with them to known the behaviors of people from all standards of living.  On your way to Mgahinga gorilla national park for mountain gorilla trekking and boat canoeing on Lake Mutanda, you will have a first stopover at the Kayabwe Equator line where the earth is divided into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres to take some memorial photos, watch the water experiment that is carried out on each side of the earth to explain the geographical discovery and rotation of forces on each side of the planet, have a cup of coffee to enjoy fully Uganda made coffee and then proceed to Igongo cultural center where you will have refreshments and lunch, tour the museum which is rich with illustrious history of the western Uganda and the Ancient life of the Ankole people. Thereafter, continue with your drive through the beautiful Kigezi highlands proudly known as “Switzerland of Africa” while enjoying the breathtaking sceneries of forested and terraced hills. You will arrive at your booked lodge early evening to check in, freshen yourself, and have dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mountain gorilla trekking – Lake Mutanda boat riding

Wake up very early in the morning (0600hrs), get will dressed, have your camera, binoculars, insect repellants, have breakfast, get your packed lunch and meet your safari guide to transfer to the park information center to meet other guests to be briefed on the dos and don’ts to follow during mountain gorilla trekking, what to expect during the forest walk and how to behave in the presence of the mountain gorillas in the forest. You will be put into groups of 8 with other people that will be trekking mountain gorillas on the same day to meet one gorilla family, be allocated a park guide and armed ranger and the start your forest walk to lookout for the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The time taken while searching for the Mountain gorillas is not known but it can last between 45 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of Gorilla family and your walking speed. Besides mountain gorillas, you may encounter other wildlife species in the forest such as golden monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, forest elephants, several bird species butterflies and trees species among others. Your park guide will be able to give you as much information as possible about everything that you will encounter. Once you encounter the mountain gorillas, you will spend with them a maximum of one hour while seeing them feeding, playing and mothers grooming their babies. You will be free to take as many photos and recording videos as you would want to keep your great memories while with the magical mountain gorillas. Mountain gorilla trekking is one of the best wildlife experiences not to miss while in Africa. After spending an hours with the endangered mountain gorillas, return to the park information center to be given your certificate for succeeding a gorilla trek in Mgahinga gorilla national park, meet your safari guide and drive back to your lodge to have lunch, relax, and later early evening, go for an adventurous boat riding on Lake Mutanda.

Lake Mutanda is a freshwater lake which is free from bilharzia and other dangerous water animals such as hippopotamuses, crocodiles among others hence making it free for swimming and relaxing after mountain gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park. Boat riding on Lake Mutanda is one of the most adventurous safari that will take you to visit different fascinating islands with your local guide. After boat riding on Lake Mutanda, proceed to the Kaboko river channel at the north banks of the lake for behind the scenes excursion of meeting the clawless otters and conclude your tour with a visit to Gihuranda village one of the neighboring community to Lake Mutanda to see the amazing fresh water springs from the underground. The drive back to your lodge to have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Return to Kampala / Entebbe international airport

Wake to pack your luggage, have breakfast, check out of your room and start your rood drive back to your hotel / residence in Kampala or Entebbe international airport to meet your return flight. You will have a stopover at Igongo cultural center to stretch your muscles, have lunch and then proceed with your drive straight to Kampala or Entebbe international airport to prepare for your return flight. This will be the end of the 3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla and Lake Mutanda Safari.
